Last night we opened our last bottle of the 2006 L’Ange Rouge from McPrice Meyers.  We had already eaten for the night, the little man was down, and we just wanted something to sip on.

A 100% grenache from Santa Barbara County, this wine really ain’t no joke.  I popped and poured it about 830pm, and it was so bitter and hot with alcohol I had to go to Cork’d to check my notes from the last bottle.  Okay.  I decanted it for while last time.  Makes sense.

Like clockwork, about an hour or so later,  when my wife gave the, “YUM!”, after her first sip, I return to the wine and it was spot on, like before.  Dirty and bramble type fruits on the nose and palate.  The alcohol was all but gone for my palate after the hour or so of air.  I picked up some peppermint-ness and spice notes, sorta indian spice, which i like a lot.

It is big and has a long finish, which I appreciate, especially being a mid 30 dollar wine. I’ve never had anything else from McPrice Myers, but would seek out anything from them just to at least try.  Really good Cali juice with super fresh fruit.  Still have a bit more for the Auburn game tonight.  War Eagle!
